I’m watching God’s people struggle with changes going on around them, that they know are biblically wrong. I too have struggled. I’m heartbroken to see so many people accepting changes that go against the Word of God. It seems if we speak up, then we are thought of as an obstacle hindering the majority who push to move forward.
It comes down to us making the decision that no matter how disliked or rejected we feel by others; that we will choose to allow God to use us as an instrument for him. This means the harder the majority pushes for us to be quiet; the louder we get. The more pressure we come under will only strengthen our stand and our prayer life. The more hate delivered to us, the more love we offer. The more darkness we come against, the brighter our light gets.
None of this is possible until us believers are predetermined to stand in faith, speak boldly in truth, hold confidence in Christ, while courageously braving the majority coming against us. This is where our trust is truly tested.
Some of you may feel as if all you have tried is a losing battle. (You see no changes.) The Bible reminds us in Galatians 6:9 not to grow weary in well doing as we will reap a harvest if we don’t give up. Keep planting seeds of truth, love and rightness; while resisting the temptation to be self-seeking, proud or angry. The Lord is counting on us so don’t bow to defeat…
Blessings to each of you,
Years ago, my husband and I were driving down a long stretch of country road. On both sides as far as the eyes could see, were fields of flowers. I was captivated by such beauty and held an urgency within me being drawn to the flowers. I asked my husband to pull over but the look in his eyes suggested it was a bad idea. I asked again and to his disapproval he made it clear, “it’s a bad idea”… Excitement flooded me as I ran out to the flowers expecting the warmth of the sun on my face and the fragrance to be intoxicating… (That excitement quickly turned to extreme fear as I’m standing in what once appeared beautiful but was surrounded by swarms of bees. ) I simply could not run fast enough back to the truck all the while, screaming “THERE’S BEES!!!” Calmly, my husband asks, “Did you think there wouldn’t be any hon?” I yelled, “I saw the beauty not the danger!”
I told this story to set the stage of a crucial reminder us Christians need to never forget. Which is, there is a spiritual battle going on all around us. Just because we can’t see it does not mean it doesn’t exist. This battle is fought in the unseen realm or spiritual dimension but felt in our marriages, families and friendships… The battle is between good and evil, fighting for control over God’s people. Specifically for control over their emotions, free will, minds and hearts. The devil is constantly sending assaults on God’s people but in subtle, clever and crafty ways to persuade us to step away from God and his will for our lives.
He does not work alone but rather holds an army of evil helpers better known as demons who are all committed to evil. They work in collaboration with each other to manipulate situations against us. This means they may use people we trust most to mistreat, misuse, or confuse us. To clarify further, think of the person who is kind to your face but speaks harshly behind your back. Some may call this two faced but I prefer the term double-minded. James 1:8 reminds us that a double-minded person is unstable in all their ways. (The devil took part in them becoming double-minded as he placed paranoia, and conflict in their thinking, through various openings he gained access through…) These people are all around us, meaning they are our spouses, family, friends, co-workers or people we routinely see. Who better for the devil to use than someone in our circle of trust? We would be unsuspecting of them…
There are so many examples but take the married couple struggling who can’t seem to see eye to eye anymore. The enemy sprinkles pride in the thoughts of both individuals. Due to the thoughts they are entertaining, both feel justified in their words and actions. The outcome of entertaining such thoughts is seen when the home is no longer cozy due to it becoming a battlefield between spouses. The second someone offers gentleness, (outside the marriage) can be the breaking point of the entire marriage. See, what appeared good to the person receiving gentleness, could actually hold evil intentions. Who do you think was behind sending the person at the exact moment kindness or gentleness was most needed? (I wonder what the Lord saw those two people doing together that the devil knew was impossible to do apart…) The Bible reminds us in John 8:44 that the devil is a liar and the father of lies. It also reminds us in John 10:10 he’s a thief out to steal, kill and destroy.
There are so many people struggling with hurt feelings, abandonment, disappointment, mistreatment , loneliness, and sorrow; who blame those around them for how they feel emotionally. Some have chosen to walk away from their marriages, extended family members and even close friends because hurt feelings and anger prevent the relationship from continuing. Yet, the Bible reminds us in Ephesians 6:12 that we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Is it fair to say, that the devil is succeeding at stealing hope, killing motivation to continue trying and destroying relationships; by the swarms of evil he sends our direction ? Make no mistake, it is not your spouse, family or friends who aim to harm you emotionally or in any other way. Those people were simply used by the enemy to send a message meant to harm you emotionally or spiritually. It was the devil himself who disguised his evil intentions in the beauty of your relationships… He simply used those you trusted most as a conduit to persuade your thoughts off the Lord and onto yourself. (It looks and sounds like my spouse, family member or friend so it must be…. No, not everything is as it appears to be. Evil can take on various forms and sometimes those we care for most are used first to destroy us with words or actions towards us.)
The devil’s mission all along was to cause as many of God’s people to become double-minded because they are known to be unstable in all their ways. This includes emotionally, physically, spiritually, and even financially. Wherever there is beauty there is also danger… (Marriage, family, and friendship hold such beauty.) Which is exactly why danger walks around as a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour. 1 Peter 5:8 .
If your beautiful relationships have been compromised, then you must reconsider the source of your upset. The assaults sent to destroy God’s people and their marriages, families and friendships is astronomical. Why? My friends, that’s easy….
It’s easier to blame “Who” we can see; instead of “What” we can’t see…
Blessings to each of you,
