We have become a society desensitized to sin. Many have lost the grasp of discerning between right and wrong. Isaiah 5:20 “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.”
God’s standards of living have been replaced with man’s standards. (Whenever God’s standards of living are dismissed, confusion about what is wrong or right can be seen.) We are living in times where man has established legal rights that go against God’s Word. Yet, some of God’s people are going along with these new standards even though they know them to be wrong. They want the protection of God’s hand in their life, but knowingly remove themselves from it, in order to be accepted by society. This reminds me of the warning found in 1 Timothy 4:1-3 which is, that some will depart from the faith and give way to seducing spirits.
Have we become a society seduced by spirits of vulgarity and debauchery? It appears we have, as we purposely indulge in iniquity which is willful sin. Things that were once taboo or done secretly are now exposed with bragging rights attached, as if it is a good thing done. In other words, wrong is widely accepted quicker now than ever before… Instead of people being ashamed of their behavior and turning away from sin, they promote it as good and wait to be applauded. (It is sickening.) This reminds me of Jeremiah 6:15 in regards to it making it known to us, that people won’t be ashamed of what they are doing and they are going to fall just like all those who fell before them.
Speaking of falling…We spend more time belittling each other, tearing people down instead of building them up in love and encouragement. Hearts have become hardened , calloused, and cruel. We have more people fighting than we have getting along. Families spew words of poison to each other over ridiculous things, spouses accuse or leave each other before they are willing to communicate in love, friendships are dissolving, children defiant, and everyone is doing the same thing which is shaking their heads in confusion, as to how brutally mean we have become… Have we really become so caught up in words and actions of others, that we missed the strategies the devil and his fallen angels used against us, to take advantage of us? 2 Corinthians 2:11 (Because all this fighting between us; is really us doing the dirty work for the devil, as he uses us as his entertainment.) John 10:10 reminds us he is out to steal, kill and destroy. Look around you and see how healthy your marriage, friendships, finances, and health are… If you are honest with yourself , a hazmat mask may be needed in order to clean the spilled toxins around you…We have let sin desensitize us to the needs of others. We no longer are sensitive to how we make people feel or how they are doing as long as we get what we are after. (We all are after the same thing…which is love, approval, acceptance, and compassion from those who we hold closest to us. ) Yet, somehow we keep messing that up too. Why? Could it be the sin of pride, anger, or accusing? Or could it be that our sinning was so small but gradual we fell in the category of being desensitized to it? Was it that we welcomed temptations and applied them, instead of resisting them as we should have? Anytime sin is allowed instead of resisted, the devil tries to persuade our conscience to sin more and makes it appear beautiful or exciting. Once we fall for his trickery we are then accused by the very one who is the accuser of the brethren. Revelation 12:10 (The same one who is out to steal, kill, and destroy but instead of looking evil as he is; he will use those we love or trust most, to do his evil work for him. Hence the reason we are accusing each other and issuing blame on the wrong source.)
What we end up with is the reminder of 2 Timothy 3:1-5. This set of scriptures reminds us of perilous times to come. Times when men will be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness but denying the power there of and turning away from God.
To those of you reading who have questioned why you are rejected by society; quit thinking that is a bad thing. Your voice of courage to speak truth must be louder than the deafening silence of rejection… My friends, it only takes one person willing to step out in faith and courageously speak truth; for God to use those words, as seeds he plants in the hearts of men. Don’t allow rejection to be your excuse for not speaking up. As you can see from this post, now is the time more than ever to get loud and speak truths… I hope to see you on the battlefield!
Blessings,
